About Us
The Town & Country Planning Unit was established in Puducherry during November 1965 under the Directorate of Public Works for drawing up Development Plans initially for Puducherry and Karaikal and subsequently for Mahe and Yanam. Since enormous developments had come within as well as outside the urban areas of the Union Territory and in order to control the spatial developments, a separate organization in the name of Town and Country Planning Unit started functioning independently during 1966 headed by the Senior Town Planner.
